With the rapid development of outdoor LED displays, LED display manufacturers have sprung up, so how to choose the outdoor LED display products suitable for their own projects? This paper focuses on the selection principle from the basic parameter selection of outdoor LED display, composition material selection and manufacturer selection.

First, the basic parameters of the outdoor LED display

1, type

Depending on the color of the LEDs used, the outdoor LED display can be divided into single primary color, dual primary color and full color display. The single-primary LED display can be used as a text display. Each pixel uses a single-color LED, mostly in red. The dual-primary LED display can be used as a graphic display. Each pixel consists of two red and green LED tubes. It can be displayed in three colors of red, green and yellow. The full-color LED display can be used as a video display. Each pixel is composed of red, green and blue LED tubes, and the display color is fine.

2, point spacing

When selecting the outdoor LED display, the point spacing of the display screen should be selected according to the distance of the audience. The outdoor LED display screen generally has P4, P6, P8, P10, P16 and so on according to the point spacing. Generally, it can be estimated according to the simplified formula “best visible distance = point spacing / (0.3~0.8)”. For example, with P16 display, the point spacing is 16mm, the best viewing distance is 20-54 meters.

3, grayscale

Gray scale is an important indicator to measure the display effect of outdoor LED display. Gray scale is determined by the number of analog-to-digital conversions under the support of other supporting hardware. There are three types of 8-bit, 10-bit and 16-bit mainstream, 8-bit mode. The number conversion corresponds to 256 kinds of brightness changes, that is, 256 levels of gray, a total of 256 × 256 × 256 = 16,777,216 color changes, that is, the so-called 16M color; 10 -bit analog-to-digital conversion corresponds to 1024 kinds of brightness changes, that is, 1024 gray levels There are 1024 × 1024 × 1024 = 1,073,741,824 color variations, which is commonly known as 1.07 billion colors. The higher the gray level, the better the display.
